Nuevo Hotel Horizonte is a one-star on a quiet side street about 100 metres from Plaza del Príncipe in central Santa Cruz. Calle Castillo, Plaza de la Candelaria and the port are a few minutes' walk away, with trams and buses close by, so it works well as a base for exploring the city or the north of the island.

Rooms come as singles, doubles, triples and quadruples, refurbished in 2018, with free wifi and flat-screen TVs. Reception is open 24 hours and English is spoken, and parking can be arranged if you book it ahead. Facilities are kept simple, with drinks machines rather than a bar. It suits budget travellers, small groups and anyone staying a while who wants a simple, central room close to the tram and the port.
