Getting there

Tenerife North (TFN) is about 25 to 30 minutes away by road, and a taxi is the easiest transfer. From Tenerife South (TFS) allow about an hour and 10 minutes. TITSA buses link La Orotava with Puerto de la Cruz and Santa Cruz, but the villages on this page are spread out, so a hire car helps for the coast and for driving up to Teide.

Beaches

El Socorro in Los Realejos has fine grey volcanic sand, a lifeguard post and a 2026 Blue Flag, and it is a well known surf spot. La Arena at Mesa del Mar in Tacoronte is black sand with its own Blue Flag for 2026, reached down a steep, winding road. Puerto de la Cruz's beaches and lidos are a short drive from La Orotava.
