Before you go to Callao Salvaje

Getting there

Tenerife South (TFS) is about 25 minutes away by road, and a taxi from outside arrivals is the easiest transfer. By bus, line 40 runs from the airport to the Costa Adeje bus station, where local TITSA services continue up the coast to Callao Salvaje and Playa Paraíso. From Tenerife North (TFN) allow a little over an hour.

Beaches

Playa de Ajabo is the local beach, a small cove of grey sand mixed with pebbles below the cliffs, with sunbeds, showers and a kiosk; access is by steps and ramps. For long stretches of soft sand, the beaches of La Caleta and Playa del Duque are a short drive south. Many hotels here make up for it with large pools and sea views.

Good to know

This is a place to settle in rather than bar hop. The clifftop setting gives open views out to La Gomera and long sunsets, and the pace is slow. A car or the local buses make day trips easy, with Costa Adeje's promenade, shops and Siam Park all close by. Callao Salvaje marks the southern end of the Costa Adeje coastal area.
