Hotel Marte is a three-star with 95 rooms in the centre of Puerto de la Cruz, about two minutes on foot from the town's bus station. That makes it a practical base for seeing the island by bus, with Santa Cruz, La Laguna and the Teide routes all leaving from round the corner, and the old harbour about five minutes' walk away.
Up top, the pool and solarium have sun loungers, parasols and views to Mount Teide and the ocean. Breakfast is a hot and cold buffet, reception is open around the clock and the small gym is free for guests. Cyclists get a secure bike garage with a basic repair stand, and reception can sort car hire, airport transfers and tickets for Loro Parque, Siam Park, diving or paragliding. The pick of the rooms are the superior doubles, with a balcony looking towards Teide or the sea.
Breakfast is the only meal described by the hotel. Check-in from 14:00, check-out by 12:00. The bike garage carries a small fee.
