Puerto de la CruzHotel Tigaiga is a four-star with 83 rooms in Parque Taoro, the green park on the hillside above Puerto de la Cruz. Its subtropical gardens are the heart of the place, planted so richly that the hotel runs guided garden walks and publishes its own plant guide. From the upper floors the views stretch to Mount Teide on one side and the Atlantic and the town on the other.
The solar-heated pool sits in the gardens, and a sauna looks out over the ocean, with massages and other treatments on request. Restaurante Jardín serves a buffet breakfast and an evening menu, while Tinguaro, an à la carte terrace restaurant, is open from late morning into the evening. Rooms face either the garden or Teide, and the top-floor panorama suites have the widest views. It suits couples, garden lovers and walkers who want calm above the town.
Long trousers are recommended for men at dinner. The town and seafront are downhill from Parque Taoro.
