Sol Tenerife is a four-star hotel of more than 500 rooms from Meliá's Sol brand, on Avenida Rafael Puig Lluvina in the middle of Playa de las Américas. Playa de Troya is a few minutes' walk away, and Siam Park, Aqualand and Jungle Park are all a short drive.

Rooms are straightforward and practical, typically with two single beds, a bathroom with a bathtub, a flat-screen television and a balcony, and some look out to sea. Outside there are two adult pools, one heated in winter, plus a children's pool close to the sea, all with sunbeds and parasols. The location is the main draw: the beach, the seafront promenade and the restaurants and bars of the resort centre are all on your doorstep. It suits families with older children and groups of friends who want a big, central hotel and plan to spend their days out and about.
