The Ritz-Carlton Tenerife, Abama is a 459-room resort on the west coast, set around a main citadel building with rows of villas in the gardens, high above Abama Beach and looking out to La Gomera. It has the full range of a big luxury resort while still offering quiet corners: The Retreat is an adults-only area with its own infinity pool, and some suites come with private pools.

Food is a major reason to come. M.B is Michelin-starred, and there are ten restaurants and bars in all, from Japanese at Akira Back and Basque cooking at Txoko to the vegetarian Verde Mar, Italian at Verona, breakfast at La Veranda and grilled fish at The Beach Club on the sand. Seven pools spread across the grounds, the 2,500 m² spa and fitness centre includes an indoor pool, and Ritz Kids and a splash park keep children busy. Abama Golf is next door. It suits couples, families and food lovers who want everything on site.
