Senderos de Abona is a small rural hotel in a traditional Canarian house in the old centre of Granadilla de Abona, the hill town above Tenerife's southern coast. It has 16 rooms and no two are alike, from singles and doubles to triples and junior suites with their own sitting room, all with heating for cooler evenings.
Outside there is a pool with a solarium and a small garden of lemon and orange trees and native plants, and the restaurant serves local cooking. It makes a good base for walking: the Barranco de las Hermosas is about 20 minutes away, Teide National Park about 40 minutes by car, and the beaches at El Médano and La Tejita about 15. Tenerife South (TFS) is about ten minutes by car, so it also works for a first or last night. It suits walkers and couples who prefer village life to the resorts.
