Hotel Alta Montaña is a small three-star hotel with 15 rooms in Vilaflor, one of the highest villages in Spain, on the southern slopes of Mount Teide. The village sits among the Canary pines of the Corona Forestal Natural Park, and the road north from it climbs on into Teide National Park, so this is a natural base for days on the mountain.

Life up here is slow and green. Waymarked paths, including the long-distance GR-131, run through the village and into the forest, and the plaza, church and a few bars and restaurants are close by. Evenings are quiet and the air is fresh. With so few rooms, it feels personal rather than busy. It suits walkers, cyclists and couples who want calm mountain scenery rather than a resort pool scene, with the south coast resorts still within reach for a beach day.
