Hotel Spa Villalba sits at about 1,500 metres on the edge of Vilaflor, wrapped in the Canary pines of the forest crown that rings Mount Teide. Its 27 rooms and suites all look out over pine forest, garden or mountains, some suites have their own hydromassage bath, and the GR-131 long-distance trail starts almost at the door. Guests must be 14 or over.
The spa is the heart of the place. Its circuit of Turkish bath, sauna, sanarium, jacuzzi and pebble walk is included in every rate, booked in advance, and the pool is covered and climate-controlled in winter, then opens to the pines in summer. Massages and rituals are extra. Restaurant La Vendimia serves Canarian and Mediterranean dishes at the table for every meal, with half board available. It suits couples, hikers and cyclists training at altitude.
